Give Me Five | No Kid Hungry
Atlanta 2017 Fundraiser Dinner
Have you heard? Do you know? One in six kids in the United States don't get the food they need? That's ONE IN SIX. I didn't know. That's disgustingly irresponsible of all Americans. How can we sit by and not do something, anything within our means to help feed our kids? With such an epidemic of this proportion, it doesn't take a neighbor hood to raise a kid, it takes a country to feed that growing kid. The Atlanta GiveMeFive — No Kid Hungry Dinner 2017 was eye opening to the devastation our America's kids face every day.
Disclosure: I was invited to attend the #GiveMeFive — #NoKidHungry as a member of the Atlanta Food & Lifestyle Bloggers' Society. AtlFLBS was a sponsoring partner which included 6 tickets for members, and I'm very happy to say I was one of the lucky ones. No monetary exchange was made and the opinions in this review are 100% my own.

Only a handful of people know this yet, but the Atlanta Food & Lifestyle Bloggers' Society is currently planning a bake sale to donate all proceeds to No Kid Hungry. We're excited for the opportunity to give back, pay it forward, and just simply do something to help feed our kids. I hope you will visit their site and take a look around, and I hope if you do you're also compelled to help. It's so important, and make sure you spread the word!
11th Annual Give Me Five Dinner Atlanta 2017
a humbling fundraising experience
Arriving at the Atlanta Athletic Club started the evening's experience off with a statement. "These people don't mess around, look at this place. It's gorgeous." When I entered the building I was directed to check in at the desk marked A - F (I think it was F) and pick up my table number card. I was at table #34 and as far as I'm concerned it was the table to be at! More about that in a moment though.
After I successfully checked in and entered the raffle — nope, didn't win, I made my way through the beautifully dressed crowd to the back and started snapping shots of everything. The silent auction items and each Chef had a place holding their hand quoted and large signed card with their picture next to it. Perfect for a post and you'll see this a little further down the page.
As I made my way through all the silent auction items I came to the champagne tower and I was treated to a demonstration!
5 Featured Chefs | 5 Sommeliers | 5-Course
The event theme for the evening was Chefs created courses that the sommeliers paired with wines. Gil Kulers, our sommelier, not only had a hand in pairing the perfect wine for each course, he also entertained us well. Gil showed off his skills with a bottle in one hand a sword in the other. Here he is with Demetra and Toby taking a selfie. See, he was definitely a good sport. BTW, I'm sure Demetra's shot came out perfect. This is the best but it such a fun pic I wanted to include it.
Of course I took tons of pictures, enjoyed the dinner, was very intrigued by the information the speakers shared, and learned some new things that really pulled on my heart strings. I just didn't know how bad it was in this country. I didn't know so many kids were hungry. But, I should have. It's one of the most important things to be aware of and we're all responsible to be accountable.
Below are the Give Me Five — No Kid Hungry Chefs.
